Today's reading: 1 Kings 19:11-12
surrounded by mountains,
I notice for the first time that I am deep
in valleys
always only looking up
(darkness falls early here in the middle of things
no horizon but the peaks and crags)
I have fears here
(not of the dark but)
of the dangers of life on this
glittering coast
earthquake
fire
silence
my foundations are shaken
(once again)
my presumptions are consumed
(ashes to ashes)
my voice is hushed
(party of one)
I am listening
